PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN DATE AND LOCATION OF THE CONVENTION
The purpose of the convention is to elect the new Executive Board (now called County Party) for the 2019-20 years. We are allowed two Board members for every candidate for office at the county level or higher. This allows us 10 Board members. To vote OR be elected to the Board, a person must have been a member of the Michigan Democratic Party by October 31, 2018. Precinct delegates may join that night and former members whose membership has lapsed my renew that night. Once the new Board is elected the convention will be adjourned.
Immediately following the election of the new Board, a second convention will be convened for the purpose of electing the four new officers; Chair, Vice Chair, Recording Secretary and Treasurer. As per MDP rules the Chair and Vice Chair must be of opposite genders. ONLY the newly elected Board members will vote for the officers. In order to be elected to County office, the same MDP eligibility rules as above apply. Once the new officers are elected this convention will be adjourned.
The newly elected Board and officers will serve from January 1, 2019 until January 1, 2021.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A CHANGE IN TIME AND LOCATION. THE CHANGE IS BECAUSE SEVERAL MEMBERS WILL BE IN LANSING FOR THE LAMEDUCK LOBBY EVENT.
